DENOMINAZIONE DI ORIGINE CONTROLLATA

LIGURIAN RIVIERA DI PONENTE D.O.C. VERMENTINO

Il vermentino, in many wine magazines and publications it is called "Vermentino of Pietra Ligure ".

It seems to have been imported from Spain Valenti sons of Pietra, the oenologists Avv. Cristoforo Accame, Rossi and Salomone popularized it with learned publications, monographs and articles.

Quality and curiosity

For us and for the tradition and for the documentation of skilled oenologists the Vermentino it originated from a plant born in the Pietrese area.

The "tonnaroli" of Alassio and Solva di Alassio who went every year to slaughter in the traps between the islands of S. Pietro and S. Antioco and to the processing of tuna at the Porto Scuso cook in southern Sardinia brought the shoots of Vermentino to their colleagues in Gallura. The vine found Gallura an ideal habitat and is still cultivated today, producing superb wine
