LIGURIAN RIVIERA DI PONENTE D.O.C. ROSSESE

The grape variety of Rossese probably has French origins and could have been imported into Liguria in the Doria militias, who already in 1270 owned a castle in Dolceacqua.

Quality and curiosity

The Dorias had the merit of making it known in all the Courts of Renaissance Europe. The Rossese di Dolceacqua it was much appreciated by Napoleon and Pope Paul III Farnese, the latter famous for demanding a different wine for every occasion. In honor of Napoleon, a fraction of the municipality of Dolceacqua fi called by his name.

CHARACTERISTICS

Ruby red color. On the nose it shows fruity scents and light floral expressions. On the palate it features pleasant notes of freshness, dry, moderately warm, quite soft, almost savory with a slight bitter aftertaste. Recommended pairings: Genoese top, fricassee lamb, Ligurian-style rabbit. Serving temperature 14-16 degrees.
