Historical notes

Historical data of the presence of Rossese in Liguria from the beginning of ‘800, especially in the area of Ventimiglia and Albenga. Rossese of Dolceacqua was the first wine in Liguria to obtain DOC (Origin Appellation) in 1972, and it is the one that contributed most to the fame of Rossese.

Bunch

Medium-small, pyramidal, winged. The berries are medium and have thin skin of violet blue-black color. The harvest is in October in the Dolceacqua DOC area, and earlier near Albenga.

Winemaking

In Red. Rossese di Dolceacqua is a wine of intense ruby color with garnet notes. The bouquet is floral, enriched by spices and wild berries. The same notes are also on the palate, with good structure especially in the Superior version. The Rossese Riviera Ligure di Ponente (also Albenganese) has a ruby color, floral bouquet. It is delicate and vinous with dry, soft taste enriched by hints of rose and strawberry.
